Hello October!
We run quite a lot of programs and campaigns throughout the year, but the month of October is probably one of the most important month in XIXILI’s calendar. So why you might ask? For ladies especially, this month is particularly important as it is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month or more commonly known as the Pink October Month. This is an annual campaign to raise awareness on breast cancer, especially educating women on prevention and early detection and also to raise funds to support research, prevention, cure, treatment and also to assist women who are affected financially due to this terrible disease.
In Malaysia, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer affecting women. Statistics has shown that one in 19 women in Malaysia are at risk, compared to one in 8 in Europe and the United States. This is indeed worrying but there are definitely ways that we can reduce the risk of having breast cancer. During the Pink October month, we provide general education to everyone. Here are some of the images shared throughout the month.
Despite the limitations brought on by Covid-19, we’re happy to have conducted a livestream talk in partnership with Subang Jaya Medical Centre and Dr Daphne Anthonysamy, Consultant Breast and Endocrine Surgeon gave a great and informative talk on “can we survive breast cancer?” The answer is definitely a YES. The video of the talk is uploaded to our Facebook page and we highly recommend you to watch a record of our livestream session.
Continuing with another livesteam talk is on a topic that is probably not discussed often, but we did! We talked about how eating well and good orgasms uplifts your health with our panelist from Savor of Life, Smile Makers and Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia. We also did not forget about our wonderful XIXILI fans, and had our social media giveaways with some weekly Q&A on breast cancer topics. Our lucky winners walked away with prizes from our wonderful Pink October partners. We thank everyone for the sponsorship.
It was a good month for shopping as well, as we had special discounts on XIXILI lingerie throughout the month.
One of the main highlight for the Pink October month is that we managed to raise RM8,000 for National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) from the sale of non-woven bags. We hope that this amount will assist them to provide highly subsidized and free screening to the public. You can do your part to by contributing to them and join the fight against cancer! Every donation helps to save lives.
Though the month is over, the education and awareness on preventing breast cancer never stop. Remember to do your monthly self-breast examination and seek early help if you feel something is not right.
